Ciba Festival Held in Dong Minority
On March 15, the Ciba (a kind of cake made of glutinous rice) Festival was kicked off in Tongdao Dong Autonomous County. Thousands of tourists and photography fans from Shenzhen, Guilin and Changsha gathered in Hengling Village of Pingtan Town in Tongdao to appreciate flowers, enjoy operas and songs of the Dong Minority, and most importantly to make “ciba”.
The festival attracted tourists from afar and provided an opportunity for people to experience the Dong culture promoting unity and tolerance.
Gong Xiangfang, a tourist from Taiwan, loves the Dong culture so much that she has visited four times. During her fifth visit, she said, “I think the original folk culture is so unique and interesting. It’s worth further understanding and studying.”
