Zhangjiajie Old Courtyard
The Old Courtyard Tian that is located in Cormorant Bay of Zhangjiajie City on the eastern side of the bridge 500 meters is the place where the Premier Zhu Rongji has studied. It was build by Tian Qiyuan in the early years of Qing Dynasty and it was also the former residence of Tian Qiyuan’s great-great-grandson, Tian Qijun who was the geologist and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Old Courtyard was founded in the early Yong Zheng period of Qing Dynasty, and it was a typical fire seal courtyard building. The total size of rooms has thirty-one, its layout is rigorous, furnishings don’t change the past appearance and the treasures of it are rare. The Old courtyard is now listed as key protection units in Hunan Province. And it is the most intact ancient Tujia house for the preservation of Xiangxi, even the whole country. And it is the living fossil of the Tujia architecture, known as “a house of Tujia”.
Old courtyard is the ancestral home of the ancestors Tian. Tian Chengman in the Northern Song Dynasty years has served as the Gestapo, Taifu, and Taishi duty.
