The charm of Xiangxi Theatre can accommodate 2800 people, is located in the beautiful scenery, towering stands of Zhangjiajie World Geological Park, Wulingyuan scenic area, simple and elegant, the atmosphere thick, complements each other with the natural landscape of Wulingyuan.
This performance offers primitive simplicity and is full of Zhangjiajie local folk flavor. The show deeply explores the mystery and unique minority life, including the age-old (Xiangxi Sacrifice), full-bodied (Miaojia Wine Drink), bold and unrestrained (Xiangzi Miaojia Drum), amorous (Tujia date), humorous (Tujia Kujia), mystery (Xiangxi Corpse Chase), and straightforward (Maogusi Dance). After featuring dancing, singing, traditional Chinese acrobatics and Qigong, the shows end with a huge bonfire.
Charming Xiangxi is a famous singing and dancing night show in Xiangxi which will impress you deeply on local folk cultures. With the longest history in Wulingyuan Area, Charming Xiangxi Theater was built in March, 2001 with strong and distinctive local features after eight years’development.
Program list as follows:
First is about Drum-dancing of Miao Nationality. It is the most characteristic dancing art in Miao nationality which is listed in Folk Cultural Heritage Protection.Second is about a story named ‘Border Town’ written by famous writer Shen Congwen. It is a love story.
The third one is named ‘House Climbing’. It is a unique marriage culture in Yao Nationality. When daughter is old enough to get marry, her parents will arrange her to live in Diao Lou (wooden or bamboo house supported by wooden pillars) in order to date with young man. And the young man will show his happiness by singing and dancing.Fourth, it is about Mao Gusi Dancing. This dancing came from sacrifice ceremony of Tujia Nationality.The fifth is a male-female duet revolution folk song. Chinese famous folk song singer Song Zuying once sang it in Musikverein Vienna.Besides the above, there are also many other ones to leave you a deep impression about local people and custom.
