The Changsha Martyr Park

The Martyr Park, the largest park in Changsha City, is located in Dongfeng Road No. 1, the northeast of Changsha. It is a comprehensive park that contains memory, travel and entertainment. In 1950, it began to be built and officially opened in 1953. The park covers an area of 118 hectares, of which the surface is about 40%.

The park is divided into three parks: memorial district, sightseeing district and entertainment district. The memorial district takes the Martyrs Tower that was built in 1958 as the center. The tower is surrounded by lodgepole pines of Nanyue, cedar, deodar of Himalaya, pseudolarix of Nanjing and podocarpus of Changsha, they makes the martyr tower more majestic. The terrain of the sightseeing district is open, and there are the natural hills, artificial pavilions. The area of Nianjia Lake is about 37.5 acres in size. And its surface is vast. A winding arched stone bridge leads to Huxin Island. The island has three arch bridges, which seems that the cloud is high and the water is vast, and is quite unique. There are many boats on the lake to make visitors go boating. The southeast of the park is entertainment district. There are children’s playground and the modern recreational facilities. Fuxiang Art Gallery is a garden building, and often holds all kinds of potted flowers, calligraphy and painting exhibition. In addition, visitors can enjoy the scenery and taste Hunan snacks and Western tea in Zhaohui Building and Xianxian Building.
