Changde Museum
Changde Museum was built in 1991. It belongs to the antique buildings of courtyard, and the main hall is composed of antechamber, central hall and backyard. In the street side, there is 68-meter-wide perspective wall and the broad lawn is within the wall. The center of the lawn is provided with a music fountain, two giant stone lions standing beside the stands in front of museum. The north and south sides of in wall antechamber inlaid with two huge glass embossments from the imitations of copper. One is about the ancient legend of Changde; another is about modern celebrities and events of Changde. The front wall of the first floor in antechamber is currently the largest Tang tri-color painting in Hunan — the Peach Garden Wonderland.
The central hall is 30 meters long, 24 meters wide and 21.8 meters high, and the top is the glass cover. There light is adequacy, the hall is spacious, and so it is a multi-functional, comprehensive exhibition hall. The backyard is totally enclosed showroom and warehouse, there are 10standard rooms, 4cultural relic storerooms, and mainly used for display and preservation of historical relics. The north and south sides of topic museum and main hall are connected, and are equipped with 3 standard rooms, which mainly used for various types of special exhibitions. Museum is now displaying the “Historical Relic Exhibition of Changde”, “Changde Folk Exhibition”, The Giant Root Carving Exhibition “Chinese Root Exhibition” and other basic displays.
